my last ditch attempt to make a blogpost this month

hey hey! it's been more than a month since i made a post here. a lot has happened and how i wish i remember all of them to write about here and you guys have the patience to read it all.

on volunteering and service

i, together with a couple of old and new friends plus some ci's, all agreed that staying in mdc and waiting for further instructions from above would be a misuse of precious time. so we all decided that we would all go and offer our services to any one of our available options of donations centers. we left mdc at around 11am and had lunch at blue wave. our ci's gladly treated us to a wonderful and gracious pizza. wow! after that we headed straight to the mega tent at ortigas for our volunteer work. we were greeted shawn, such a wonderful and beautiful lady, and was delighted to hear that we were all in the nurisng profession. that task that was given to us was to segregate drugs. we also cut the 'banigs' of drugs into more manageable pieces. the problem, we don't have scissors. so here i was, thinking we can't work this way, so when our ci's were unable to purchase scissors in the nearby mini stop i headed out to find a way to buy some. so from ortigas extension in mega tent i walked to the nearest mini stop and inquired if they have scissors, they said 'no.' so i headed to the next mini stop which was approximately equal to mdc-moa in distance. when i arrived, they gave me the same answer and pointed to the 3rd mini stop which was already in san miguel avenue. there were and additional 2 mini stops there and both, to my severe dismay, also had no scissors to sell. so i went to 7-11 which was in between and found only 1 scissor and 3 cutters. i bought all of those plus 2 1L bottles of mineral water. on my way back i crossed upon an additional mini stop and to the most weirdest of all coincidences also had no scissors. how come they had a sudden shortage of scissors around there?! when i was about to go back, i thought of going around to get back to the mega tent since i didn't want to experience the long walks i did to get to where i currently am at that moment. what happened is a series of event of me getting lost around ortigas walking with nothing but two liters of water and my bag to burden me while finding my back to the mega tent. i found myself inside a residential village and found the exit, to my great relief, right infront of the mega tent iteslf. when i arrived at the tent, and to my other great dismay, they already had scissors to use. :( the next thing we did was to segregate all the drugs and repack them in seperate boxes to be ready for shipping. we also repacked alcohol, medical utensils like gloves and gauze, and baby diapers. the bayanihan part came when we had to load all the repacked food reliefs in the volunteer cars for shipping. we fell in line (was my grammar correct?) together with other volunteers and passed the goods from one person to another. that moment had a lot of comedy into it, courtesy of me and some other people who laughed with me. we had absolute fun with everything, especially when you share it with your friends and the people who reprimand you in classrooms. i loved every moment of it. hopefully, tomorrow would be equally or more fun in every way. i'm proud and honored to have served my countrymen in need. i know my 0.1% would go a long long way for the 100% we need to recover from this great tragdy brought about by typhoon ondoy.

here's a couple of photos of today's work:

MY THOUGHTS: how come nobody is asking for feminine napkins? there are a lot of women in those areas and they bleed every month.

SIDE NOTE: i found a bumblebee car (chevy camaro) for sale in ortigas.

the remaining of this entry and the video for the month of september will be posted tomorrow or sometime this week

MTG: Naruto Set

after a long absence, 8 days actually, i've come back to give a status report on my life.

case presentation

being a group leader for a case pres is not fun. lol. you have to coordinate everything, make sure people are doing their job without spoiling their fun and you have to be strong for everyone. show them that you're not giving up. show them that they can do it. hopefully i was efficient enough to do the job. wednesday is the day we present everything. i just hope that we're prepared on that day. because i know, the panel will destroy us if weren't.

magic the gathering: naruto set

being a big fan of naruto, i've decided to integrate my favorite anime to MTG. i used magic set editor, a program that allows you to create cards for the game based upon your creativity. actually trying to integrate the ninja world to MTG is something i found out to be really difficult. i had very little freedom to work with the techniques and characters and their abilities. i just imagined the chakra elements to be part of the 5 mana sources in the game. with a little bit of inspiration from the various episodes, manga chapters and websites i've seen, i think i've made a good start in creating my set. i'm not done yet and i'm actually aiming for a 100 card set. making the rares is easy, it's actually the commons i have difficulty creating.

confessions of a pharmacology student part 2

woah! wtf happened? i spent days and sleepless nights reading that pharma book and to my dismay, those that appeared in the exam are those specifically that i wasn't able to read. talk about being fair, right? those i've read appeared for no more than 20 questions out of the entire 100. my goal of getting an 80 crumbled right before my eyes. the faintest feeling of positive energy came from the fact that everyone i've talked felt the same. but still, you'll never know until see that score right infront of you. i just wish that the Almighty heard my prayers. i am offering whatever i get to His greater glory.

let's play battleship!

there was this sudden boom of american population in pasay these past few days. i was told that there was these supposed aircraft carrier within manila bay. i went to check if it was true and to my surprise, it is! this is the first time i saw an aircraft carrier, and not just any aircraft carrier, it's a nimitz class. the most powerful one ever to date. here's a couple of photos:

i took these photos from the telescope at moa. it was very cloudy that day and it's difficult to focus the cellphone cam in the scope. so sorry for the poor resolution.

can't wait to blast them goblins!

yes, there should be a medical term for students having a toxic dose of academics. how do you think they should name it, academetoxicity? wtf?! how about toxicity to pharmacology? pharmacotoxicity? or how about pharmaconeuritis for a brain swelling in pharmacology concepts. i just hope that after all this reading and studying, i get to use it in that 100 item multiple choice exam.

new starbucks tumbler

i just bought a new starbucks tumbler the other night. i was thinking of buying a new one this past few days since i can't use my other two since the first one is a mug which has no covering in its lid and the other one looks like their venti sized cup for cold drinks. so i bought the tumbler with my week's savings and i chose the one that you could design your own inlet. and it was really worth it since i get to change the appearance of my tumbler anytime i want. all i need is a picture and a printer to print it. so yesterday moring i got on my laptop and went to the site starbucks suggested to look for designs. to my dismay they all look trivial and boring. i mean why do you wanna see autumn leaves in your tumbler? so i went to google and search for one of my favorite animes, to-love-ru and got a picture of haruna, lala and mikan. here is the raw picture that i got.

the raw file that i got

i adjusted it to the right size and printed it. i placed it over the template, traced the outer edges and then cut it. i got it to fit my new tumbler the first try. it looks really great on my new tumbler. here is a couple of photos.

how i just wish that i could've used a photo paper instead of a bond paper for a more glossy finish. nevertheless, i'm sure i'll make kenneth envious with this one.

on blasting goblins and being a hero

have you ever wondered how one becomes a hero in a fantasy world filled with various monsters and endless adventures with only a pen, paper and dice? you may think being and author to a fantasy novel would fit the paper and pen but how about the dice? well it's a table top game called dungeons and dragons. well it all works when us (players) listen to the dm (dungeon master), who narrates the story, acts as the antagonist by playing the monsters' part and manipulator of the fantasy world. it's really weird for anyone who doesn't know how to play the game to watch us play. it's actually a game of endless posibilities, literaly! i actually play a wizard, my role is to make the situation of the battle favorable to our party. no i don't ride a white horse and summon light from my staff but i do make myself invisible and turn the enemy into statue like figures to be smothered by our avenger. we play on a weekly basis every sunday evening and i can't wait for our game session tonight. curious about dungeons and dragons? check their website here.

the best mmorpg in the world

i've been wanting to play world of warcraft for a few months now. i love the game and it's a good distraction to studies, which adds a lot to the fun, but hell lot expensive. you see when most mmorpg go for about P100 a week, wow goes for about P750 a month. talk about expense! and to top it all i still have to buy the original expansion set which will cost me about 4k. though it's a one time deal it will really hurt my budget. how i wish i could just ask my mom for it. unlike before, good grades aren't enough for my mom to be convinced to get me that game. talk about disappointment. hopefully after the midterm exams i could come up with some way for me to buy the game and play it. it will be a great stress reliever for me.

Patrick Star is Majin Buu's son!

i just wanna share this pic that my classmate shared to me. for a while there it made me laugh hard.
