end of the week blog up: rle, transformers 2, sports cars

this has been a shitty week. aside from the stress and the headaches, my first draft for this supposed entry suddenly disappeared. this isn't the first time this has happened to me but it still pisses the shit out of me.

how we were taught that safety comes first before airway

my professor in pharmacology asked us an supposedly nclex style question. him being him, he related the question to psychiatric nursing, though i still can't connect psychiatric nursing to his question. his question was, what will you do if a person slipped because of a banana peel then suddenly had respiratory arrest. the choices were (a) assess the client, apply first aid then throw the banana peel, (b) call 911, assess the client then apply first aid, (c) assess the client, call 911 then apply first aid, or (d) throw the banana peel, assess the client then apply first aid. do you have any idea what is the correct answer? neither did i when i was asked but according to our professor the correct answer is the last one, throw the banana peel, assess the client then apply first aid. why you say? because he claims that safety should always comes first before airway. throwing the banana peel ensures the safety of the immediate environment and guarantees that no other will slip because of the banana peel. this was a bit contradictory to the typical ABC (airway-breathing-clearance) protocol i've learned. though still the discussion did enlighten me a bit. i think that there is some truth to what he's teaching us through that question. he even had the humour to include yu yu hakusho into the mix. when yusuke and toguro fought. during the fight, they were both class A, but when yusuke defeated toguro he became class S. and in the world of rankings in any anime, rank S always goes first before rank A. and according to our least humorous professor, that's one of the reason safety is first.

rle is fun sometimes, especially if all ret dems you did for the day is 95%.

yes, i'm proud of it! i did in all of my ret dems for wednesday. i was fortunate enough to master the skills but the sad part is the mastery has a duration of only one performance. so i still need more experience to fully master the skills.

sad part of the week.

i lost my notebook last wednesday. all of my notes are there. and the sad part of it, i have a ret dem for neuro this monday! not to mention the hard work i gave to customize that notebook, annotations of sandy and allaine, and that it cost me P750. awts!

spending the night at someone else's house.

last night we spent the night at the minions mansion. it's the first time we used jp's apartment for such activity. i brought my xbox 360 along and we played naruto, street fighter 4, gears of war 2 and resident evil 5. both banjo and jp was shocked to learn that jill was an antagonist for a while in resident evil 5 and the fact that this particular resident evil can be played by two players. the drinking was quite short for all four of us but we did enjoy the cans and cans of vienna sausage we ate and the big bag of m&m's we chewed on.

transformers 2, a big bag of coins and a dog tag i finally found at the right price.

after the overnight we had a schedule for a group outing to watch transformers 2 at rockwell. as poor as i am, i was able to bring along my savings for a few months in a small bag. it's P1,666.65 worth of coins! i saved it through the coins i bring home everyday from spending my allowance. it was approximately around 8 lbs in mass. it was real heavy and very uncomfortable since i don;t have a bag with me. the good thing is that the wonder full employees of fully booked gratefully accepted my coins when i requested for a trade. the coincdence was that they were having a shortage in coins! so it was such a wonderful fate for me to have went there instead of some other store. and they were honest too! i initially estimated my coins to be worth only around P1,000++ but they patiently counted them all and it did amount to P1.6k++. i was really grateful and pleased that my coins were converted to bills and are now back into circulation. thanks to the wonderful people at fully booked rockwell.

transformers 2 was a real blast! P170 for a ticket was a real steal for that kind of action filled movie. but to parents out there, the language is a bit mature so please do provide proper guidance to your kids. megan fox is real hot.!no disappointments there. what i really did notice in the entire film is how they really bragged about the united states military. i think this is their new kind of psychiatric warfare during peaceful times. to show their military might through movies like this one. the cinemas in rockwell are a real treat! compared to the g4 and gb3 cinemas theirs are a notch higher, especially in the quality of the seats and the size of the cinemas.

there was a small display of porches and audis in the ground floor lobby. the cayman s and carrera s really caught my eyes. i really want to have one of those babies.

i crossed upon this small stall that sells ako mismo dog tags for the original price of P40. i bought one since they sell it at P60 in school and even fake ones that are just stickers at P70 in recto. here is a photo of my original piece at original price.

before i end, a simple message.

i did my best,
but it wasn't enough,
good luck!

today is papa day, plus other boring stuff

today is the international father's day. have you ever wondered how this day ever came to existence? it was a story about a daughter who loved her father so much, a civil war veteran, wanted to honor her father but at the same time also honor all other fathers. her idea was mostly laughed at and ridiculed. her critiques even suggested that they wanted a fishing day instead. but her persistence paid off and in 1972, president nixon made it to a law that every third sunday of june was to be celebrated as father's day.

today is my very own study day. we have to do our ret dems tomorrow so i had to review my skills for physical exam. reviewing is relatively easy, it's retaining them in my head that's hard. ever since i suffered that blow to my head when i was a kid, my memory has been a little bit joggy. i stayed in the club house for about three hours. good thing it's not hot and i was able to sit down in one of the comfy lounges. the internet there was fast, i hit around 200++kbps download speed while downloading the final 4 episodes of season 5 of house md.

my last activity for the day was to go to mercury drug in market market to buy a few medical supplies. good thing they have what i needed so my journey there wasn't a real waste. i also had the chance to listen to paolo santos as he on tour for his 'back to basics' album. he still has that kick he had during his prime in the music industry. i took a video of his version of photograph which i embedded here.

my journey home was the usual. i walked home. i took a different route, somehow closer to the dark edge of the fort rather than the lighted side walks. it was literally pitch black. i could hardly see anything and the only reasons i saw anything was because of the passing vehicles. the trip was memorable while it lasted.

second day is lecture day

it's our second day in school. unlike yesterday, which was filled with dull and sleepy moments, today was completely the opposite. we had our lectures about physical exams for four different systems and tell you what, it's not that easy to digest. i had the opportunity to fill up almost 1/4of my brand new P700 notebook. though it's my messy and large handwriting that is at fault. on the bright side i'm happy that i'm finally starting live out my student nurse life. it's finally time to get serious with everything.

my former classmates told me that hey had a really boring lecture. fortunately for our group, we had the opportunity to be taught by dynamic, humorous, knowledgeable, adept and comically green clinical instructors.

i've been spreading around the tnl blog through my classmates (check out my links page). the entries are really humorous and packs some punch. i recommend you guys to go and visit the blog.

and as you know, when you're in a medical school (health care based) people do get health conscious. so when it started to rain heavily around 5:00 pm, the dismissal time for the entire 1000++ (approx) population of 3rd year students, this kind of scenario happens.

first day high

first day of school really should be one of the two most exciting days of the school year (the second one being the last day of school). you get to see your friends again, get released from the cage you call home, and get to have your allowance again. and one of the things you'd expect on the first day of classes is that you get to go to school but don't really go to class because supposedly all the professors are still cramming with the details of their own classes to handle and with that you get to out with your friends whom you haven't seen for a few weeks and catch with all their summer lives. however this particular first day isn't like the rest. this time, we actually had RLE class, and RLE classes last for the entire day! so just like the jug heads we all were, we all just stayed in our funda lab and made noise as we wait for our orientation.

orientation was just as typical as the ones we had in the past. the speaker talked about the usual stuff they had to cover, details of our clinicals, the equipment we had to bring, details about lates and absences and what to do in case we had to file incidence reports (that's the only report i don't wish i have to do in the near future). we're jam packed inside the lab since they had to let the other section sit in. just imagine the heat all those bodies produced. our discussion of the grades got me worried a bit. there were only five criteria and two of those weighed more than 30% and they included attitude (so high school) in the criteria. i'm not really big with ci's.

lecture was more dragging, we can barely hear the instructor since we were seated at the back, most of our questions are answered inadequately and we are expected to master all the physical exams. mastery of the pe is fine for me, i will do my part, but hopefully we do get more effort from our instructors. i know they're doing their job well but i'm just asking for a little bit more. i took a few shots with my cel, it's illegal to do so, so hush hush! ^_^

If it's not Arnold, then it's not Terminator

we just watched terminator salvation last night. i was totally out of place since i haven't seen the t1 to t3. thing is, even if i haven't seen the prequels i still somehow enjoyed the experience especially the part when one of the viewers sneezed, the sound of which he/she produced sounded like a fart. arnold did a cameo for the film in which he appeared naked right before christian bale and started kicking his ass around the place. his cameo however looks computerized.

after the movie we played at timezone. i tried drum mania v6 since there were new anime songs added. i thought i still had the skills but apparently i was wrong. i totally sucked. haha! but still it was fun and i know i'd still play.

after timezone we went to yellow cab in macapagal to eat some pizza. it was chad's treat since he's the one with the job right now so it was twice as delicious for me. the 18" pizza apparently outlasted all 3 of us since there was this last slice that we could no longer jug down our throats. but it was tasty while it lasted. then we went down to the parking lot to play this little toy chad got from timezone. it really brought back the kid in all of us. it's this elesi that has lights in it that we could launch from a handle by pulling a string. we did a few launches till we got tired of it.

we went to malate to check out the bars we used to go to when we were young. then we saw this gay dude in totally gay outfit grab a guys arm and try to take him away from his girlfriend. LoL! it was funny to watch but it's scary if it had happened to us. after a few passes through the streets of malate we did a detour to warzone in vito cruz to play an hours worth of left for dead. the mouse pad sucks but it was fun since we get to kill zombies again.

we finally decided to go home. it was around 5:00 am. on the way home we passed by this dude lying in the island of south super highway. chad swore he saw blood. maybe it was a salvage, in the filipino sense of the word, or maybe he was just sleeping. but still we had our doubts if he's still alive.

my first entry

this is my new blog. i have been absent from the blogosphere for almost half a decade now. i haven't been able to maintain my high school blog back then to survive past my college days. this new endeavor, i hope, would be different. i still haven't decided in my style of writing but i most certainly know i would be writing both in english and filipino, which really depends upon my mood upon writing any future posts.

with that i would like to share this video of untouched by the veronicas. both ladies are so damn sexy! how i wish i could see more of their types in the music industry. enjoy!

i really love the "la la la la.. la la la la.." part. :D
